Favorite Personal Finance Books

Over the past year I have devoured every personal finance book and blog that I have found. So I thought that I would share a few of my favorite books. These are in no particular order.

  1. “The Millionaire Next Door”- Thomas J. Stanley

This isn’t a how to get rich book. It consists of interviews with wealthy individuals and how they remain wealthy. You will find that the truly wealthy don’t flaunt their wealth and instead live a modest lifestyle.

2. “Your Money or Your Life”- Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin

“Your Money or Your Life” will change your mindset about how you utilize your money. You will learn financial strategies for different aspects of life. This is a great one to motivate you to stop overconsumption.

3. “The Total Money Makeover”- Dave Ramsey

This book has become the gold standard for any one wanting to improve their financial situation. I don’t necessarily agree with all of Dave Ramsey’s advice, and the book can be kind of preachy, but this is great place to start a “money makeover.”

4. “Debt Free For Life”- David ┬áBach

This is a book that I stumbled upon while browsing the local library’s eBooks. It turned out to be a good read that offers some pretty sound financial advice about getting out of debt and continuing to stay out of debt.

I believe every one of these books I checked out as an eBook through the local library. I would recommend the Overdrive app if your local library utilizes it.
